Clifton Ave Animal Hospital is a full-service practice for dogs, cats, and small pets. Wellness care, vaccines, dentistry, imaging, surgery, cardiology, behavior support, and same-day urgent appointments all happen under one roof, so most pets never need a second trip to a referral hospital.
That includes patients who find the veterinarian hard. We see reactive dogs of every size, small, medium, and large, along with reactive cats and small pets, and we plan those visits around the pet rather than the schedule. Behavior and wellness plans covers how that works.

Paying for care
We give an estimate before treatment, not after. If you would like to spread the cost, Cherry payment plans let you check what you may qualify for before your visit, and manufacturer rebates can bring down the cost of preventives.

Do you see both dogs and cats?
Yes. We care for dogs, cats, and small pets, and we use low-stress handling so visits stay calm for anxious patients.
Do you see reactive dogs?
Yes. We care for reactive dogs of every size, small, medium, and large, as well as reactive cats and small pets. Tell us your pet's triggers and any bite history when you book, and we will plan the appointment around them rather than improvise once you are in the room. Can my pet be seen the same day?
Often, yes. Call (973) 894-3410 as early in the day as you can and we will tell you honestly whether we can fit your pet in. Our same-day care page explains how triage works.
Do I need an appointment for vaccines?
Yes, including for the Monday evening vaccine clinic, which runs 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Booking ahead lets us prepare your estimate and the vaccines before you arrive.
What are your hours?
We are open Sunday Closed, Monday 9:00am - 7:00pm, Tuesday - Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm, Saturday 9:00am - 2:00pm.
