What to bring

  • Any previous medical records or vaccine history you already have.
  • The names of any current medications, supplements, or preventives.
  • A stool sample, if we asked for one when you booked.
  • A carrier for cats and small pets, or a leash for dogs.

Do not have the records? That is normal. Give us the name of your previous veterinary practice when you book and we will request the file for you.

If your pet is reactive, tell us when you book

Reactive dogs of every size are welcome here, small, medium, and large, and so are reactive cats and small pets. The most useful thing you can do is warn us before you arrive rather than at the front desk.

  • The specific triggers: other dogs, strangers, being lifted, having feet or ears touched.
  • What the early warning signs look like on your pet, and how much space they usually need.
  • Any bite history, snapping, or a bad previous visit. It is a safety detail, not a confession.
  • Whether your pet is already muzzle-trained, and what handling has worked before.

With that on the file we can plan the appointment time, the room, and the pace before you walk in. Our article on reactive dogs of every size covers what can actually change about a visit, and behavior and wellness plans explains the longer-term support.

Costs and payment

You will know the cost before we start.

We give you a written estimate before treatment rather than a surprise afterwards. If you would like to spread the cost, Cherry payment plans let you see what you may qualify for before your visit, and manufacturer rebates reduce the cost of preventives.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes, walk-ins are welcome. Subject to capacity. Some days every chair already has a good boy in it, so a quick call ahead never hurts. Booking ahead still gets your pet a proper slot with a veterinarian, and if something is wrong today, call (973) 894-3410 and we will tell you honestly whether we can fit your pet in.

How do I transfer my pet's records?

Give us the name of your previous practice when you book and we will request the records on your behalf. You are welcome to bring a copy with you as well.

Do you see cats?

Yes. We see cats, dogs, and small pets, and we use quiet rooms and low-stress handling so cat visits stay calm.

My dog is reactive. Will you still see us?

Yes. We care for reactive dogs of every size, small, medium, and large, as well as reactive cats and small pets. Tell us your pet's triggers and any bite history when you book, and we will plan the appointment around them rather than improvise once you are in the room.

What if my pet needs to be seen today?

Call us as early in the day as you can. Our same-day and urgent care page explains how we triage and what happens when you arrive.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Cherry lets you check what you may qualify for before your visit, and we always give a written estimate first.

Where do I park?

There are reserved spots directly in front of the clinic at 851 Van Houten Ave Suite # 3, Clifton, NJ 07013. The 702 bus also stops across the street.
